Yoga for beginners

A class where nothing is assumed. Every shape is named before it is asked for, every option is offered out loud, and nobody is looking at what you can or cannot do yet.

What the hour is

Slow enough to ask a question in the middle of it

We cover a small number of shapes and go through them properly: where your weight sits, what to do with your hands, and how to tell the difference between work and pain. Questions are welcome while the class is running, not only at the end.

  • Shapes are named and shown before you try them
  • Blocks and straps from the very first class
  • Questions welcome while the class is running

Who it suits

If you have been meaning to try for about two years

Most people in this class have never done yoga, and the ones who have are here to fill in what they skipped. You do not need to be flexible, calm, young or any particular shape. You need an hour and a floor.

Before you book

The three things people ask us about this class.

No. Flexibility is a result of practising, not a requirement for turning up. Everyone starts stiff.

No, that is the whole room. This class exists so that nobody has to be the only one who does not know what is going on.

There is no set number. When the shapes stop being new, slow flow is the usual next step, and the teacher will tell you when they think you are ready.

Something else on your mind?

Write to us and we will answer honestly, including when the answer is that another class would suit you better.

Take a place in the room

Tell us which class you are looking at and we will let you know what is available.
