Vinyasa flow

One shape leads into the next, and the breath decides how fast that happens. Vinyasa is the warmest class on the timetable, and the one that leaves you a little wrung out in a good way.

What the hour is

Movement that follows the breath, not the clock

You will move almost continuously, but never faster than you can breathe. The sequence builds through standing shapes, opens the hips, and comes back down to the floor before it ends. Nothing is held for long, so if a shape does not suit you today, the next one is already on its way.

  • Warm by the end of the first ten minutes
  • Standing shapes, hips, then floor
  • Every shape has a lower option, offered out loud

Who it suits

Come if you want to be tired in the body and quiet in the head

Vinyasa works well for people who think too much and would rather be given something to do with their hands and feet. You do not need to be strong or flexible to start. You do need to be willing to sweat a little and to stop when you have had enough.

Before you book

The three things people ask us about this class.

It is the most demanding class we run, so if this is your very first yoga class anywhere, the beginners class is a kinder door. If you have moved before in any form, you will be fine here.

Yes, and it is expected rather than tolerated. Sitting down for a round or two is a normal part of the class, not a failure.

The room is kept comfortably warm rather than hot. This is not a hot yoga class, and you will not be practising in a sauna.

Something else on your mind?

Write to us and we will answer honestly, including when the answer is that another class would suit you better.
